This is probably not going to be a reasonable alternative for you guys, but= ProEXR can save out a multi-layer file from Photoshop that can be read in = AE. If you use the ProEXR Comp Creator functionality, it will do all the s= etup for you. Problem is that first you'll have to convert your Photoshop document to 32-= bit mode which will make it take up a lot more memory and may take a long t= ime for big files. Also, it doesn't transfer adjustment layers or anything= like that, just regular layers. And because the files use floating point,= they are probably bigger and slower than an 8-bit PSD.
