I just tried auto-save in the current version of After Effects, and it works as expected, continuing to save versions even after the maximum number of auto-saves has been reached, throwing out the oldest one and adding the newest one.

Scott, please ask your coworker to submit a detailed bug report so that we can figure out why it's failing for him:

That is not a bug that I'm aware of, but I'll look into it.

BTW, Auto-save should only be thought of as an emergency mechanism for folks who haven't learned good work habits yet. A much better way to work in After Effects is to turn Auto-save off and use the Increment And Save command frequently. This way, you have complete control of when the safety save is occurring, and there is no limit to the number of versions of the project that can be saved in this way.

Subject: [AE] autosave function

Just had a coworker realize that his autosave was not functioning correctly.

While Adobe states:

" When the number of versions saved reaches the maximum you specify, the Auto-Save feature overwrites them starting with the oldest file.”

That was not the case here.  When he reached his limit it just stopped, it did not continue by overwriting the oldest one.  Is this a known issue?  I have since asked him to bump up the limit to something more than the default.

Thanks
