viewer quality-Color management quality: default is more accurate except ram preview. 

maybe that is your issue since its changing when you ram preview

I recently started working in linear color space and all the colors band really bad when I ram preview. If i playback with the spacebar everything looks fine. Working in linear and 16bit. Is this normal? Also if anyone knows of a good article for transitioning to linear color i'd love to know. I find it terribly disorienting and i'm having to relearn color correction and working with levels.
