The Mercury transmit option in Preview was a big life saver this week. We are shooting a five source projection map  in the studio – it made it much easier to do blends in AfterFX, full screen, while sending signal to the switchers.

mklink is the Windows equivalent; I do it for all scripts, presets, and plugins (I create a subfolder in plugins called 'User Plugins' and link that so as to not get doubles of the built-in stuff), and that seems to work just fine for me for between-versions. All synced over Dropbox, with MediaCorePlugins as well, so that other computers can get to it just as easily.

Also have a folder there for aescripts+aeplugins tools with custom config needed. I've been trying it with OriginalUserWorkspaces & ModifiedUserWorkspaces to some degree of success, but it's messy / wish there was a better way!

I symlinked all 3rd party effects in the plugins directory on Win 7, and also ScriptUI Panels. I didn't try with a standard Windows shortcut, but used soft symlinks us the mklink command.

Doesn't the alias thing only work with MAC?  I seem to recall this last time I had this discussion. lol

Todd-- would/could you do a post discussing your use of aliases/symlinks as mentioned in the article? Was considering doing one myself, however wouldn't want to find that I'm doing something potentially 'destructive' and lead readers astray, despite it working out for me.

Yep, they do require new installers.

Todd - I did see the notes on both.  The VC one basically just went to a forum post but apparently not real resolution or process but it sure didn't transfer.

I did see somewhere that Red Giant has new installers, although all my
RG plugins transferred fine without reinstalling.  Element 3D tested
fine as well in CC 2014.
