Chris,

I was in the same boat.  I love working on my older 15" MBP.
Bring the project to the studio to do the heavy lifting.

PROS: portable, attach thunderbolt as necessary (storage/monitor), bring work anywhere
CONS: expensive, not as powerful, bring work everywhere

Ae, Pr and even C4D run well enough on it, but big renders should get ported to a desktop.
