I have a fully loaded MacBookPro Retina, by that I mean just checked all of the upgrade boxes and ordered max speed, RAM, storage, and I bought a Segate Thunderbolt adaptor for just under 100. You can plug a bare drive into this adaptor and transfer speeds are amazing.

I bought 2 naked SSD drives and 2 1TB Hybrid drives to use as externals for freelance work and file transfers. I stuck a suction cup on the back of the adaptor and stick it to the lid of my MBPro to keep things easy to move around when I need external storage.

This is my second MacBookPro R. I kept the first one for 15 months then sold it for 70% of what I paid for it in 2 days and picked up the new one. The key to the sale was Extended Apple Care.

First, the machine is plenty fast for most HD work, there痴 enough real-estate to do a lot of my out of office work without an extra monitor. When I知 home, or even when I知 out of the office sometimes I plugin to an external monitor with HDMI or Thunderbolt.

I知 working on a contract for a big project and I値l probably lease a middle of the road MacPro for that job because it will involve a bunch more hefty rendering than I want to do on a laptop. Even if I buy, Apple is offering 0% interest through berkley right now, I知 sure I could sell the machine in a year with very little out of pocket.

When the intel iMac was first released I bought one at MacWorld, bought an iLugger case for it, and carried it around like a laptop for 2 years, then sold it to a client. They are still using it for their in house presentations. When the MacBook Pro R was released I was using a newer iMac and still dragging it around in a bag. Switching to the MBPro turned out to be the best hardware purchase I ever made.

Hope that helps.
