Touch Designer is kind of the gold standard for projection mapping… it is currently PC only (though supposedly mac version will be out by end of summer)

I don’t personally use it because of the PC only issue, it is also somewhat node based which is a UI logic I've never been fairly adept at… Some what similar to how Quartz Composer works… tying various operators through in/out links…. But it is incredibly robust and powerful and has tons of plugins/scripts floating around for a variety of uses.
I personally use a combo of VDMX for media management/triggering and Mad Mapper for the actual mapping distortions… It's limited for some of the higher end functionality, but works for the basics….
