Pretty sure you mean a GTX 780 - there is no 800 series nvidia cards (yet). In my experience Nvidia graphics drivers are more stable with Adobe stuff, plus you get the benefits of CUDA raytrace with AE.Â
Appreciate the confirmation. Like you, sometimes, I just don't have the time either to do troubleshooting and instead revert back to what I know works. I believe my system is well capable, with an i7, 32GB RAM, Win 8, all updates, etc.
Â
Maybe an update will fix. I am in the market in for that GT870 (someone here recommended) card in short order as well. Not sure if that will help but hope to see some improvement somewhere as a result from my Radeon 6970 i mentioned yesterday.
FWIW: Premiere Pro CC 2014 is pretty unusable on my system as well. Froze the system twice, I had to manually cut power and restart each time – a problem I have not had with this workstation before. Before it froze I had similar problems to what you describe.
I gave up and am back to using Premiere Pro CC (Version 7.2.2 (33)) until I see an update to the new (2014) version installed. The ‘original’ CC continues to be rock solid for me.
Â
I don’t have the time to figure out what the problem is with 2014, but you’re not the only person having problems: Which was one of your original questions.
Â
I think my system does meet spec:
Â
Windows 7 – all available updates
NVidia 680 GTX 2 GB – newest driver
Dual Xeons – quad core
148 GB memory
Separate SSD’s for OS, Scratch, pagefile.sys and content.
Â
-- For those raising that issue.
Â
I’m sure Adobe will figure this out and fix it, not a big deal for me for now.

I shut down app and relaunch and import works. The video on the timeline itself sometimes plays a portion, then you hear audio and video is locked still. Â Then other times, the very video on the timeline that appeared in the viewer before, shows almost like it's offline, even though it's right there.
