I think you need to get rid of the transform made to the text layer...

a quick test with a layer that is not at the comp center... draw mask, copy, paste to brush position, and then add this expression, and it should line up

Hi all,

This has been bugging me for years so I thought I'd ask the group!

When you draw a mask on a text layer, and then copy and paste into position keyframes (eg. in "Write On"), there is always an offset (presumably due to it being a continuously rasterised layer).

Does anybody know if there's a way of calculating that offset, and therefore write a script to translate the position keyframes to line up with the original mask?

Or does such a script already exist?

(I know you can get around this by pre-composing, but I'd rather not do that).

Any insight much appreciated!

Phil
