I'm working on a new machine and I have been encountering a problem I haven't been able to solve and so I'm seeking more info and suggestions on it.
I'm working on some heavy comps and trying to take advantage of the Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously (hereafter referred to as RMFS) option. It works great in helping me build PTRs much more quickly - BUT - the problem is that with RMFS enabled after building a PTR as soon as I stop the loop playback it seems to lose the PTR that it has built - the green line in the timeline preview region disappears and if I try to play my PTR again it will need to rebuild it again even though no changes have been made to the comp. Cached frames created by stepping around the timeline or "normal" space bar playback persist as expected.
I've read some Help doc and watched Todd's explanation of the feature on video2brain, and I've tried various combinations of RMFS settings and made sure to leave adequate RAM for other applications etc. but I can't seem to get the PTR cache to persist if I use RMFS for my PTR. I've tried much more basic test comps to try to rule out any specific source media or plugins etc. but so far I cannot isolate it any further than previously described here.
I'm hoping that this is not just a fact of life... I did notice that there is a pref option for using RMFS only for render queue and not PTR...
Any insight or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.
