I'm still grinding away on an older 8 core 3ghz MacPro 2,1 with 32GB of = ram. I recently conducted some tests and under 10.6.8 with the latest = 11.0.4 version of AE6... I am getting my fastest render speeds with 4 = processors and 3GB ram per processor. Adding more than 4 processors does = enhance render times any more, so I am wondering... ... would an OS upgrade allow AE to make better use of more processors? = If yes, please advise. I love having lots of extra ram for doing other = things, and the 4 available processors come in handy for that non-AE = work. BUT, I'm wondering about power rendering runs where I'd be = inclined to give AE more system ram and control of more processors. Thanks PS... I know... I should consider moving to another mac for overall = superior production performance. :)=
