Great thanks. Yup it's 1080 they want.
Cheers.

more often than not 59.94 = 29.97i in 1080. some where along the line 59.94 (fields) started getting used much to everyone's aggravation. that said....
output a master 1080p23.976 file. why ? because then you can easily output any other variation in the least amount of time. its pretty much how I always work as re-rendering everything just to output new versions is time expensive.
in AME import the mov, then set up your output as needed which is most likely 1080 29.97i. 720 is always 59.94 so you'd get 6:4 pd added so the frames are padded out correctly in the stream. AME is smart enough to know how to add the 3:2 PD as needed making for much faster encodes. in fact could directly render your comp in AME too....
S Yup. just to clarify, IF you're wishing to render to 720p, drop in a 720/59.94 comp and hit render IF you're wishing to render 1080i, drop into a1080/29.97 comp and render *Upper Field first, and it will automatically add 3:2 pulldown . (otherwise, it will merely duplicate every 5th frame I believe)
Just drop your 23.976 source interpreted as 23.976 into a 59.94 comp and render it out at 59.94. You will be duping frames, but that's just the way it is. Expect the old 3:2 cadence: 3 frames of source frame one, 2 frames of frame 2 etc.
We are working on a spot that is live action based and has all been done at 23.976
Of course the client just told us they also need a version at 59.94.
I could add pulldown to to the 23.976 to make it 29.97 but how would I get it to 59.94 ?
Duping interlaced frames doesn't sound like a good idea.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
