sure you can 3D track & solve every shot and apply CC as needed or even CG beard if they have the money…. or see answer #1 which will be cheaper and faster.

good luck with that,

Subject: [AE] VFX for Movie - Your Take on This

All,

A couple weeks ago, I posted a message about this ROTO effort that a producer wanted in which they hadn't had approval for a certain location and now wanted me to like change all of the background which was pretty much impossible.  I was finally able to explain that it just could be done without being noticed and they wanted me to fake a depth of field thing, etc.  Anyway, I'm off the hook on that.  So, I'm on the same project and use that as a lead in to this.

It's a time lapse thing where you see some young girls growing up, not sure, let's say 10 yrs maybe and so they want the guys beard to also change to more grays/whites in the latter half of the movie.  I haven;t even begun to look yet but rest assured, you see the guy in probably 90% of the the remaining scenes.

My initial response is, you have to be kidding me.  Is this even a realistic objective to thing you can motion track and recolor a beard for half of a movie?  It's a lot of action and movement, not like a paraplegic in a bed or something but before I jump on this as a pessimist, what is the take of the brains in this group?

Thanks ahead.

Eric
