Eric, so you have downloaded the new drivers from nvidia website and installed them and it still doesnt work?

Honestly those kinds of errors can also be hardware issues like a cable unplugged or a card that is not fully seated. I would pull it out and reseat it. Or maybe a ram module got slightly unseated, etc.

And you have all power cables fully plugged in? a card like that needs two psu cables. Not trying to be insulting but a lot of times its something obvious being overlooked.

Eric, have you called nVidia tech support?  I buy my cards through third-party vendors, too, and that wasn't an issue for the folks I mentioned to get a replacement.  Both were able to get enough info from me to determine that the issue was their cards, and not some configuration issue.

I'm out of my depth on Windows, but I've asked the same question, and was told that if my monitor is hooked up to my graphics card, and I'm seeing something on the screen, it's working.  OK, but the great unknown for me is how well the GPU is being used over the CPU.  As you probably know, in Pr and Ae, the GPU can handle some tasks that the CPU would otherwise be doing (just not as fast).  What's not clear to me is when the GPU is kicking in, which is why I looked into a GPU meter for my Mac.

And BTW, I can't tell any difference between running the OSX and nVidia drivers, except that ECC (Error Correcting Codes) isn't available with the OSX driver.  And I've tried ECC on and off, and also can't tell any difference in performance.  I don't know if that info is helpful for Windows users.

Jim,

The thought repulses me. lol  No, I have not considered that.  I purchased from Tigerdirect too.  I'd be waiting weeks probably to resolve if that were the case.

But let me ask this.  I finally decided to adjust my screen resolution in windows (you know, right click on desktop, adjust screen resolution) and realized I had much more to play with and I am in fact at 1920x1080 now.

What am I losing by not having the drivers?  Or maybe a better question is, is the card even in use right now?

Eric

Have you considered the possibility that you've received a defective card?  It happens from the best of companies.  I've gotten defective cards from both ATTO and AJA, companies with a excellent reputations for reliability.  Both companies overnight shipped me a new card without me returning the bad one first.  Nice touch; excellent support.

Just an update for those interested.

Still no solution but I did update my bios successfully today, hoping that last ditch effort would do the trick.

Ran Norton utilities as well.  Everything online seems to point to the error being memory related.  I ran the memory check with no problems though.

So still at a loss.

Eric
