I would have a word of caution about this test and others: unless we have very detail specifics about how the tests were conducted (all the parameters selected, hardware, software, etc…), I believe it is difficult to make some clear conclusion. Just recently Larry Jordan ran some tests comparing compression using Adobe’s AME and Apple’s Compressor, and concluded quite differently: <http://tinyurl.com/q48yl86>

Could it be that FCPX uses a different engine than Compressor 4?
