So I'm cleaning my drive today, and going through some of the larger folders to see what's taking up space.

I'm on PC, and I've got AE set to have all of my caches on my D: Drive.

I find under the C:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common folder.. a Media Cache Files folder.. which contains .cfa files of tons of large assets I've used in projects over the past few months.   Gigs and gigs of files..

Even though I set the caches in the "Conformed Media Cache" settings to go one place, and I've got "Enable Disk Cache" turned off...

Where is AE getting the instructions to save these files here?

The banding issue can be a problem. But especially converting 10 bit videos  to hap seems to give me unexpected artifacts at times.
