The plugin only translates the SE camera specs to AE equivalent. The more accurate your SE solves is for lens, the better the AE look. 2.5 elements will always have slight issues depending on the amount of pixel coverage they have, since getting them locked in can be more dependent sometimes on the distortion accuracy.

I've had easy and very difficult times getting proper lens matches due to lack of trackable information in the distortion areas of the lens. I done plenty of tracks that using the simple Optics Compensation plugin worked just fine. It's a case by case scenario really.

Thanks David. How does the lens workflow hold up when incorporating it into a job using only 2.5 AE elements? Do many of you work this way in AE?

The plugins come with Syntheyes when you install it. They are in the plugins folder for Syntheyes, you have to manually move them into the AE plugins folder.

The pbk (pixel bender) plugins are not natively compatible anymore, but aescripts + aeplugins does sell Pixel Bender Accelerator which will run them manually.

I'd like to start working with lens distortion pipelines in order to
improve my matchmoves. I can't seem to find the download anywhere though in
their customer area for the AE plugins. I think they are pixel bender. Is
that even supported anymore?
