I've always hated Hightail / YouSendIt .   I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I hated how they differentiate between "save" and "download" and make it seem like you also need to sign up to keep stuff.

Have you looked into WeTransfer?

https://www.wetransfer.com/plus/6?trk=SplashPage

Pretty much covers all you've asked for.  Non-"plus" members can send up to 2Gb at a time, and you're allotted up to 10gb at a time. no acocunt needed for people to send to you., etc etc.

Here's a little info on file expiry, etc.

https://wetransfer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202603916

This is a 50GB on the cloud service... (you'd have to remove stuff if you want to recieve more things) $10/month, paid yearly (so $120 right now)

Dropbox also is a good service to check out..
They've just added "File Requests" which allow you to send an invite to someone to "upload" to your dropbox.. They get  a special link and can upload to a folder you designate.  They can't see what else is in that folder except for what they upload.  If you are a pro or business user, you can receive up to 10gb.. if you are sending, the size isn't an issue... Here's a link to more info on that ( https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/9090 )

Plus, files don't expire.. shared links don't expire (unless you kill them)  so that's good as well, in my mind.

The nice thing about DropBox is that you have a lot of other stuff like previews.  My clients (especially corporate ones) can sometimes be a little fuddly when it comes to knowing how to install codecs or having the right stuff to view previw videos.   With Dropbox, I just send a link... It could be an Animation codec file,  Png with alpha channel QuickTime, or even Illustrator (.ai) file or something, and they can view the video directly in the webpage, compressed to not take forever to view.

DropBox Pro is $9.99/month (paid monthly) for 1TB of space and lots of extra stuff that hightail probably doesn't do.
I can vouch for DropBox, but WeTransfer also came to mind, so I figured I'd be balanced.

Good luck, let us know if you find anything else out there.

My contract with Hightail is about to expire. I’m not unhappy with them, but since file transfer services are coming and going every year, I was wondering if something better has materialized lately.

My requirements are for large files, 10 GB is usually sufficient, AND that no software be required to be installed on either end, AND that my clients aren’t required to create and account or install software to send or receive files.

I’m especially interested in hearing good things about options other than DropBox, WeTransfer or Hightail.

Thanks,
Jim C.
