I think the easiest way is to use the stroke mask and animate the reveal to the time you want.

I want to draw a wiggly line so that it animates across the screen in 10 =
seconds. Anyone know if there is a way to animate  this brush stroke so =
that it appears evenly timed with no changes in speed when it is played =
back.  As you may know, this feature records the brush stroke as it is =
applied, and renders it at the same speed at which it was applied, so if =
you hesitate in the middle while drawing it, it will play back with that =
same hesitation in the middle.  Changing Duration Modes does not appear =
to have any effect, as all modes (constant,  write on, single frame and =
custom) have the same result.  This appears to be some kind of bug/issue =
as many others on various online forums have complained/inquired about =
it.  Before giving up on it, I thought I would inquire here.  Thanks.
