Solid advice from Steve. I’m actually looking to upgrade my 2012-vintage HD Extreme 3D card for something 4k capable. It will be a BMD product. 

The trend to 4k has definitely reached my mid-level marketing video-driven post business.
Current project load is something like this:

Source footage: 50% 1080p, 50% 3.2k or 4k (or higher)

Finished deliverables: 80% 1080p, 20% 4k

pretty much BMD is the main survivor of video I/O cards or interfaces. I have one of their HD ultra studios with TB and it works great… but its also a discontinued product. BMD thinned out their hardware line considerably at or around NAB 2017. used options are of course out there, but I’d probably go with  something that does 4K at this point.
