| Having just gone thru 2 projects in PP 2018 : its much more stable than 2015 and 2017. twice I had my project go into Media Pending. generally thats death for a project. I have projects that have been open in 2015 or 2017 that simply never put the media online, or keep it online for more than a few hours before failing again. 2018 actually recovers from media pending. it will beachball and you just have to let it go until icons in the bins start to populate. possibly toggling bin view or between bins may trip some deep code to fire off forcing media relink and what ever intern house keeping is required to put the media back online in the project. which ever way, thats a big return to stability, although it simply shouldn’t happen in the first place. 2 random system freeze ups. no user UI input works. apps are running, will respond to say, MIDI usb music keyboard, but normal keyboard and mouse clicks are dead. power down. mouse cursor disappears when using dual monitor setup. click on finder, then back to PP to get cursor back. then cursor comes and goes in some what random intervals. there is an active mouse cursor point which will do things, just no cursor being drawn. subclips have returned from the dead. a nasty bad “feature” quite a few versions back, it was replaced with the "clip is just a clip" behavior. so if you edit from your source clip into the TL, each clip in the TL is its own independent thing. I think thats what most folks expect and prefer. Instead with subclips being back there are multiple ways this can burn you - like you apply filter to “master” clip which now applies to subclips, except the subclips don’t display the master clip’s filter. world of potential hurt here, especially for the inexperienced. not sure if this is a bug, or returned “feature” but its certainly a big problem. no apparent way to turn this bad behavior off. it was making me crazy a edits to say the least. So this is one bug / feature that means I just can’t use the product, too many problems it creates. place a 4K clip into 1080 TL and scale it to 50% so its full frame in the TL. double click into source window. now it displays zoomed in 50% - basically center crop 1080 of 4K original image. UGH! I hacked my way thru 2 projects this week, but it was frustrating.
