I have only demo-ed Primatte, and am no expert on it, but I can say a couple of things:  The price from RG was so steep as to deter me from buying it, and Keylight, created by The Foundry is native in Ae and is a very good keying plug-in.

IMO, it’s worth taking the time to learn Keylight by watching a few advanced tutorials.  It may be all you need.

I’ve found that in less than ideal green screen shots that amateur shooters have given me, it can help to use two instances of Keylight: one to remove most of the green, and a second to fine tune the key.  I’ve read that this is a reason for the Intermediate Result option on the first instance.

Try playing with the Screen Matte > Replace Method dropdown.  â€œOff" may give you the best result.  It’s not the default setting.

In my experience, the better the green screen was shot, the easier it is to key.  But, I have no control over the people my clients hire to shoot. Many of them apparently think all you need to do is hang up some green paper or fabric and shoot away, and on Long-GOP crap codec to make matters worse.

That said, I’m already a BCC10 customer, and will look at this upgrade.  I’ve read of some plan to CUDA accelerate their plugs in Pr, which would be awfully sweet. The Ultra keyer in Pr is pretty good, but not great, and it’d be nice not to have to Dynamically link to Ae to get better keys.
