Thanks Chris and hope, I don't have a 3k monitor yet. Haven't has any particular need yet.  That is, not until people like you mention it. :) Just kidding.

I had a 4K monitor for a few hours but my GTX 970 couldn’t handle it so I went back to the older one.  I’m not sure if this is 100% to do with the graphics card or if the overall system comes into play.

(BTW I have 2 monitors, I’d like to think the 970 could handle 1 4K monitor but I don’t know)

There are now a fairly good amount of effects in CC2018 that are GPU-accelerated, such as transforms and motion blur, but fewer and fewer if you're on older versions. However if you use Premiere you should see a fairly significant boost to any function that uses Mercury playback engine, such as...video playback. Which is great!
