I did run into some weirdness in element3d that this did fix. I haven’t tested with any mettle products yet.

Adobe isn’t doing any further work on the ray trace engine, putting their focus on the cinema4d integration. Also, the new pascal architecture nvidia introduced in the 10 series gpu is taking many developers a while to adapt to.

 

Also, check for driver updates from nvidia often, the current version is 388.31.

Richard, 

 

I appreciate the link that you shared. I am in fact a big user of element 3D along with freeform Pro and shapeshifter by Mettle. I will have to follow this procedure and do the fix. Have you tried it and were you successful? And of course a better question is why isn't this resolved? Not directed at you of course but at Adobe or GTX. If this fix is so simple as a dll file I'm not sure why it wouldn't have been fixed.

if you often enable ray tracing for 3d instead of the cinema4d renderer, or use video co-pilot’s excellent element3d, you might want to follow these steps to enable support for the gtx 10xx series and nvidia’s pascal architecture.

Thanks all, yes GTX 1079 aka GEFORCE GTX 1070.

 

Appreciate the input. I thought several plugins now take advantage of of GPU and was anticipating quicker renders.

There are now a fairly good amount of effects in CC2018 that are GPU-accelerated, such as transforms and motion blur, but fewer and fewer if you're on older versions.
