I’m surprised this hasn’t come up yet here on the list.
Mekajiki (one of Matt Silverman’s companies) has released a new BG rendering script call Rendergarden. Similar to the old (and loved) BG Render script, except it splits your AE project into multiple parts and renders each segment concurrently — in the background. Once all segments are rendered, they are stitched together into a final single file (with no loss or re-rendering).
On my old 2010 MacPro 5,1 with 64GB ram I’m seeing time savings up to 2.5X compared to standard AE render times… and it runs in the BG so you can continue working in AE.
I’m not affiliated with Mekajiki, but thought this was worth sharing. Apologies if I’m stealing anyone’s thunder (sorry, Matt!).
There is a terrific explanation of Rendergarden on the Toolfarm site. If you haven’t checked it out, here’s my affiliate link
