For what it's worth, I've been using the AfterCodecs plugin from aescripts for the last few months and export ProRes directly from ae for clients large and small with no issues. It uses an Ffmpeg encode,  But gets the job done, color is correct and render times don't suffer much if any. It's saved me and the video editors I deliver to a ton of time.
