Thanks for the forum post Stan – I had searched but not found that. Well, a major reason I upgraded this machine was encoding speed out of Adobe. Right now After Codecs is bombing big time, so I will just have to use that but it needs lots
more preset and better preset functionality.
That does explain why my forum post about this got no response.
FYI – I found a illegally shared but legit installer for Media Encoder 2015. It installs, it’s there, but won’t interact with any Adobe Apps, so they’ve clearly pulled the code
Truly a bad scene since they won’t fix the well documented issues with Media Encoder 17/18 not failing to render which the forum is full of those posts.
Best,
Stephen

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s
behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

No, not routine deprecation. More problematic than that….
This is part of the Adobe move to using OS support for decoding Dolby, and removing support for encoding. And probably part of Dolby keeping its market after the patent expired. I think the changes are driven
by legal/licensing (=$) issues.
PR CC 2017 was modified (from 11.1.2 to 11.1.4) so the one you now install has no Dolby encoding or decoding provided. Decoding is okay if you have a newer OS (but not Win7, for example).
Lots of threads on the Adobe forums….

Hmmm, interesting. Maybe they are finally pulling old versions. I know it auto downloaded when I had installed AE on my PC.

Nope, not AME – only 2017 is choice on new box. Old box has theme listed. Reeks of deprecation. But AME 2017/2018 don’t render my film projects.

They usually are buried deep in the installer window. The little arrow on the right side should allow to to show legacy or old versions. I did this on my PC not too long ago and even got CS6 installed this way.

Setting up brand new machine Win 10 64, did load of apps and I run AE 2014-2018. However, AME 2017 and 2018 are the only installs. AE 2014 and 2015 give dynamic link error when attempting to render. Standalone installers I found via google
won't run. Uninstalling AME and AE and just installing AE 2014 and AE 2015 no love either.
It appears Adobe is blocking access to these apps on clean install or very weird bug. Please tell me there is some way to hack an install of them as I use AE 2014 and 2015 heavily still.
