Haha, that's fair enough - thanks for the explanation :-)

The curtains are a piece of stock footage (and I would imagine have been created using cloth/dynamics simulation in 3D software), so are just a 'flat' layer (and aren't perfect for that reason) - I considered creating them myself, but I was short of time (as always!) and they were such a small part of the video that I decided to compromise.

Cheers,
Phil

Phil, I’d say the video stands on its own without the music.  The reason I watch music videos with the sound off is that IMO, less than 0.25% of all music released in the last 40 years that’s made into a music video isn't annoying, repetitive, unimaginative drek.  I guess that makes me old, cranky, and persnickety about music that I enjoy.  If the lyrics are beautiful, I’d rather visualize them myself in my own imagination.  Consequently, I’ve never cared for the Music Video medium, except as a revenue stream for my colleagues and friends; but I can appreciate anything done very well, as in the case of your video.

Are the curtains that open and close 2D?  I did something similar a couple of months ago with some similar looking vector art.  I did the bending and inertia effects with the CC Bend effects.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

Interesting that you watch music videos without the sound on Jim - for me a large part of the enjoyment of a music video is the way the imagery and timing fit with and reflect the music and lyrics :)

Cheers,
Phil

I watched it with the sound off - my preferred way to watch music videos - and I LOVED IT!

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd share my latest music video which was created almost entirely in AE.
