I have worked with AE since 3.1 and I remember a time when those switches
were best, draft and (i think) wireframe. That was stuck in my head and I
did not even know it changed! (but Chris Z, if I'm not mistaken, the
default is bi-linear (straight) and the curved icon is bi-cubic. :-)

I'm not even sure how to choose to work in a linear space! But I'll use
the google - feel free to add anything.
