Sorry for the Off-Topic question, but I thought this would be a great group to ask…
I’m trying to figure out the best way to go forward with a couple of items in my production chain… better way to utilize a storage system (EVO), Episode transcoder
EOL, Cache-a EOL, etc. We are a fairly small house and I went ala carte for most of these solutions, but am considering ProMAX as a possible solution; a front-end to a smarter storage system; enabling Metadata, folder ownership instead of volume (for writing
and reading), it has encoding/transcoding capabilities, also have LTO-tape archiving hardware (they bought out Cache-a). We started a while ago with CatDV, but it has become too cumbersome for us to use, due to it being primarily for video use only, great
for final products, but not so much for the assets. We are AE users for compositing and overall productions. We also generate a number of products with 3D software and some video capturing and editing.
What are others using for a centralized approach to sharing with other members of the team; transcoding, metadata, archiving, storage, etc.? Anybody using ProMAX?
