Very very similar to Nuke, as a node-based workflow, extremely cheap for what you get (real Prores output on PC! Easy networked rendering! Uses 100% of CPU resources! Extraordinarily fast 32 bit float linear processing!) and the workflow with Resolve puts dynamic link to shame. That said, it wouldn't be functional for big mograph projects as the layer / timeline system is not set up for that. A smaller subset including one of leads used Corel P= aint. They always produced stunning work and can=E2=80=99t recall but a few= things that they could not do. My vote for best alternative.=

=C2=A0

However, all the really heavy lifting for image proc= essing had to be done in Photoshop when you get to stuff like scripting, ma= ssive files, sending complex layers to AE, working in 32-bit etc.=

=C2=A0

And yeah, nothing like AE exists out there as real a= lternative for its broad toolset and timeline based approach =E2=80=93 only= people better served by nodal approach should looks elsewhere. My two cent= s if Photoshop and AE are your primary tools in CC, CC is by far the best option for those tasks and worth the hassle o= f the baggage that comes with it.

A film = is =E2=80=93 or should be =E2=80=93 more like music than like fiction. It s= hould be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what=E2=80=99s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

I like this questio= n, because there are several alternatives to Premiere, one that I know of t= o Illustrator, but none to Ae that isn=E2=80=99t crazy expensive and a tota= l re-learn.=C2=A0 Since I use all of these almost daily in my work, plus AME and Bridge, the CC subscription seems suitable = and reasonably priced.

=C2=A0

Once Adobe gets Dyn= amic Link figured out, they=E2=80=99ll be onto something (It still loses th= e links between Ae and Pr when I open an older project in Pr, making me rel= ink each clip manually.).

=C2=A0

My main use for Ps = is masking photos and creating plates for the =E2=80=9CKid Stays in the Pic= ture=E2=80=9D effect, and doing retouching and cleaning up old photos for d= oing moves in Pr or Ae.=C2=A0 So, I=E2=80=99d need an alternative that supports masks I could paint on and selection tools like Magic Wand a= nd Quick Selection, as well as cloning.=C2=A0 And something like Content Aw= are Fill.=C2=A0

=C2=A0

For simple conversi= ons between CMYK and RGB, basic functions and adjustments like scaling, cro= pping, curves, levels, etc. and batch conversions, Graphic Converter is che= ap ($39 US).
