I doubt it has anything to do with rendering on your MacPro, unless = perhaps you=E2=80=99re using fonts in the typekit.  I could be = wrong.  Your rendering woes could be project or footage item = related, which you should be able to suss by rendering with different = projects and footage items.  To see if it=E2=80=99s network = related, shut off your network settings, and see if that helps.
