You need to have matching plugins and fonts on all the machines and they need to be able to see the same network share.

It's basically a fancy command line renderer that uses a watch folder, splits your comp out into a bunch of chunks that it renders simultaneous (hence the 100% CPU usage), and then puts them together with ffmpeg.

Check this video that goes over submitting a job:

Are plugins an issue at all? do multiple systems need to have matching plugins etc? Or just the ones used for rendering?

It’s great. Maxes our all my cores and spits out a client H264 - all with a few button presses. Quickest way to render from AE.

Yeah it's great - especially if you've got multiple machines to work with, but even if you don't.  We had a render that was going to take 8 hours on one machine -- threw it on all of our machine on Render Garden and it was done in 20 minutes.

The demo is free for 7 days - try it out!

If you’re not using render garden to create your intermediates you’re wasting time. 90% of my work requires a DI so 90% of my comps are rendered through RG.

I also use it to render off an MP4 send proofs to clients. As Rob said it’s a tremendous timesaver. You never have to wait for a renter to start working on the next cIMO.
