I used Little Snitch to capture my network traffic to your server.  Among the text it captured was this:

"<p>You have 0 activations available.<p>
…
<input type="text" name="unlock" size="60" value=" Not sent.  The allotted set of automated activations has been used up.” 


My guess is that when one of your plugs (I was using Film Glow.) crashed Ae, it corrupted my BCC activation file*, and the set won’t activate again because your server thinks I’ve already used my allotted activations.

* This morning Disk Genius reported that two Boris prefs files were corrupted, so I trashed them.  I take it that’s where the activation is stored.

I rarely use Ae disk cache.  I see the watermark as soon as I apply an effect on a layer.

I don’t see a “Deactivate” button, probably because the License Manager tells me I’m in Demo mode.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a second time.  When I hit the Activate button, nothing happens.  It still says “Not Activated” at the top of the Installer window.

I can tell by my Little Snitch network monitor that I’m connected to Borisfx.com, and when I click the Activate button, outgoing data is reported.

Please let me know if any of these suggestions work for you. If we’re still watermarking after all of this then I’ll be home in a couple of hours and will continue to work on this with you from there. It’s sometimes easier when I’m in front of of a system.

Sorry to hear about this licensing issue. Quite frustrating, I’m sure.

So if you’re using BCC 10 you might want to make sure you have a valid internet connection and then go to the license manager (via the license button on at the top of the filter) and try to reactivate the software. If that doesn’t work then try to deactivate and then reactivate.

Should that fail, I suggest a reinstall of the filters and then reactivate the license.

This is the second time I’ve made extensive use of Boris CC 10 effects in a project, only to have it suddenly reject my license after crashing Ae and revert to demo mode / watermarks.  

Licensing window says I have a valid serial, which is true, but every time I try to activate, I get an Activation Failed error message.

This happened on a late Friday night, project is due Monday, and so far, Boris Support is MIA.  I entered a support ticket their site, and emailed Support directly a couple of hours ago, and so far, I’m still hanging  C’mon, guys.  Some of us need the products we buy from you to work 24/7.

Peter has responded to this list from time to time, and I’m hoping this may get his attention.

I’m starting to believe more and more in dongles.
