I do use a utility for Mac called Default Folder, though, and have found it to be very handy. Not sure if that would do what you want. It’s designed to make navigating around Finder windows, Import, Save, etc. boxes easier to navigate.
So I've been using the DefaultFolders_v1_8 script since 2008 and of course wouldn't you know it it breaks in cc2018 now I can't remember who created this script - I thought JP Curtis but I'm probably wrong and despite this being a free script I have gotten my money's worth out of it. Any chance there is an update that works in cc2018?

Serious who ever created this I use it all the time and I'd love to have a version that works in 2018, don't make me break out my scripting skills to rewrite your masterpiece.
