Zack provided the link to the uservoice request. (It’s further down in this email.) It is the top vote getter by far – huge support. Victoria shows it as under consideration and promises a fix.

I HOPE it is in the next update. It is a credibility test!

Adobe finally made the switch from relying on QuickTime to support Quicktime based CODECs at the OS level with the latest update to CC 2018.   They could have done it sooner or later, but they had to do it.  We’re lucky to have the support at the application level that we do.  Could you imagine never being able to open .mov files compressed with the Animation CODEC ever again?

If you’re running macOS 10.6 to 10.12 (maybe as high as 10.13) and using CS6 to CC 2017, you should be good to use QuickTime CODECs as you always have.  Going forward, we’ll need to either keep an older boot drive/machine around or find a new workflow 32-bit QuickTime CODECs that are not supported at the application level.

There are already votes for supporting Photo-JPEG on the Adobe user-voice pages (https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911311-after-effects/suggestions/33841261-photojpeg-quicktime-support). There may be some for HAP as well.

I found a MAC in our Medialab. Could compress HAPs with both Compressor and old CS6 version of AME. I’m going to venture this isn’t totally an Apple problem…

I am working round the clock to get out a giant projection mapping project in Grand Central Terminal. I go to encode my files for D3 playback in AfterFX or even AME with the HAP codec and I remember it is not there!@!#$%$

This is a giant pain in ass. I have submitted my displeasure to the Adobe forum and feature/bugs email the last time this bit me.

Dear Adobe product leaders how about a response – or better yet supporting customer workflows!
