Yes, real lights in the studio but they can’t have flared as they wanted when shot. It’s always a dead give away when they go off screen at full strength rather than quickly dying down at screen edge. And they’re all perfectly identical to each other.
TBH, I haven’t used Optical Flares in 3d space but I know you can link them to AE’s 3d lights.

By the way, found this.  Very short but I think I see just one spot where it looks like there is a pole with a light or something.
I wouldn’t mind betting those flares are Video Copilot Optical Flares. They’re definitely not real.Â

Hello all,
I wonder if someone can help me. I've created this round stage in Element 3D that I have keyframe to rotate. Point of view if from center looking out and I would like just 6 simple spotlights spaced evenly around the perimeter facing the center. Currently, I just have the stock little lights that are in one of the Element packages, set to glow and they look fair but would I would like is something a bit more realistic where the glow has some streaks rather than just a glow.
For reference, this is exactly what I'm recreating from a Maroon 5 video. Note the spotlights.
So, they need to be 3D so I can place them around the object (stage).
Thanks ahead.
Eric
