It's not an either/or proposition, even if AE goes all-in with GPU = processing, it=E2=80=99s still going to have to use the CPU. AE will go = out of core on any available GPU/GPU=E2=80=99s real quick as your comp = gets larger and/or more complex. What would your dream version of a GPU = only AE do when it went out of core? Just die like Octane or fallback on = the CPU like Redshift? Is everyone going to have to buy $6,000 GPU=E2=80=99= s in order to get more than 12GBs of memory? Certain things benefit greatly from GPU processing, other things not as = much. Redshift is one of the golden child's of GPU processing and it = uses CPU processing to do certain types of processing as well as out of = core rendering; the developers often post in the forums detailing their = work to multi-thread as much as they can on the CPU. Call me crazy but I want to see a modernized version of AE. When ALL effects are calculated on the GPU, that's when we'll = see the real benefits of this. Moving frames between the GPU and CPU and = back is not very effective.
