I went to update a couple of machines to test the ProRes stuff but also was prompted to enable a global update for all apps. I clicked more info before doing so and some notes:

 

1. By default, this will remove old apps. Ungood.
2. You can customize this behavior by app but I suspect a new cloud update or other situation could reset that preference.
3. My choice and recommendation would be to leave auto-update off
