Depending on how aggressive the motion blur adding some extreme contrast might help too on the AE tracker side of things.

Precomp the source clip and run my Highpass script on the clip.

Then run the tracker on the precomp.

If the blur is extreme then yes a manual SynthEyes tracker based solution may be needed.

Hi all,

I'm looking for help to camera track a shot for a short film I've been helping with.

I'm not currently set up with syntheyes or PF track, and the AE camera tracker can't solve it.  It's a simple pan of a single car driving past on a road (tripod I guess) and the problem is that as the camera pans with the car, there's so much motion blur the AE tracker stops.  But I think that there might be enough detail for a dedicated tracker like Syntheyes or PF Track to get an acceptable solve.

This is basically a volunteer project so I thought I'd see if anyone here was interested in having a crack for fun...  It was shot on an Alexa, 3K footage, so no issues with resolution or technical quality.

If you're a gun with Syntheyes or similar and are up for a challenge, shoot me an email - chris -at- chriszwar -dot- com.  I'll upload the selected take to a google drive and send a link later tonight (my time).  If anyone can get a camera solve I can probably paypal a donation towards a Christmas drink :-)

Cheers in advance,

-Chris
