Ha. Don't confuse essential graphics (which I don't use, really) with Master Properties. Since I use a lot of node-based software these days, master properties are almost like a node workflow in AE, to make different versions of a base pre-comp. It is incredibly, incredibly useful, especially in VFX comping CG renders (for when I have to do that in AE and not Fusion or Nuke).

>Gains in hardware have been negligible too since a while.

That... is not really an accurate statement, but not worth getting into either. ha!

I also use DL the way you describe here for my render-intensive Ae Comps, and for those I use RenderGarden, which renders about 4-6x faster than Ae alone, in my experience.

But, for the most part for name supers and simple (fast rendering) GFX in Pr, I’ve come to depend on DL, which has gotten less stable with CC19, in my experience.  So much so that I’m sticking with CC18 for large projects, and clients who give me lots of projects, and CC19 for one-offs from “seldom” clients.  A Pr Project downgrader I found on the web has become invaluable, after I run into road blocks in Pr CC 19.

If I’m going to need a lot of Mocha, I’ll do those in Ae CC19, and render out to import into Pr CC18.

Teddy, you’re the first “advanced user” I’ve noticed who uses Essential Graphics.  I inherited a project from a beginner, all of whose graphics were VideoHive templates.  The Text Tool in Pr will continue to suck as long as they keep that ridiculous method of kerning that takes forever.  I don’t know why Adobe can’t make their Type tools consistent between all their apps.

Nothing says you have to abandon 2014, but I literally could not imagine working in it completely, with all the advancements and improvements and bug fixes since then. I can't even list them there are so many. I know it's trendy to hate on AE development since 2014 but many many features that have come down the pipe have increased my productivity 10x. GPU accelerated effects and master properties alone are indispensable to my workflow now. Versioning lower thirds now takes minutes vs. hours. DL is much more stable than it used to be, and much faster. But I guess if you're also on 5+ year old hardware, maybe you may not notice much difference.

Then I disable the DL in premiere, render out from AE and bring the clip back into Premiere. Rendering through Premiere with the AE engine is incredibly slow, even with the "hack" of closing AE. If the clip is pre-rendered you're gonna save a ton of time. And native rendering in AE is much faster than through any external app (AME or pp).
