Thanks! I like Adobe but I don’t need all the irrelevant posts.

How do I unsubscribe from this mailing list? This isn’t even the email I use for my Adobe subscription. All of a sudden I’m getting multiple emails a day from forum posts and sending them to my junk folder doesn't help because they are coming from different
source email addresses.
Thanks,
Chris

Agreed, always check BoTW logos against the company site, as I presume that will have the most current version. Also, check colors, because some times they’re close, but not exactly right.
If you’ve been working with anybody for ten years, you well know how much maintenance they are. Good for you both to have clients like that.
I have one client who calls me when they’re in a bind - like when they’ve over-promised on a tight deadline. They told me on our first meeting, “We pay editors $50 / hour.” I replied, “Then you should hire one of them.” I’ve never missed
a deadline in my 50 years in post. That’s part of my pitch. I finished a video last Thursday to which they were making changes up to four hours before doors opened at their event. And, a bonus is they pay on average in 10 days.
Robert, I apologize for side-tracking your topic.
The pricing model depends on whether I’m dealing with the creative, account, or production people at agencies. Always hourly with the creatives, project basis for account
types. And then there are the people with whom I’ve been working for 10+ years. Those relationships are golden.
BrandsoftheWorld has saved my bacon on many occasions. But the logos they provide are not always up-to-date, need to be checked against current work. Sometimes logos vary
slightly by country. And in the case of a $300mm privately owned specialty retailer, they don’t have anything. No PDFs anywhere. Their press page has a couple of PNGs that are less than 150px wide.

This is why I charge by the hour. The more work that clients off-load to me, the more indecisive, ill-prepared, and lousy at communication they are, the more money I make.
I usually only work on bids when I know the client and how much maintenance they are, or I’m desperate for work.
I tell first time clients that since I don’t know about their maintenance or work habits, my bid is 3 or 4X what I think the job will actually take. I tell them it’s more
in their interest to get organized and pay me by the hour.
I’m sure you know about brandsoftheworld dot com. When I need a logo, and the client is clueless about vectors, I will mine their web site for PDFs, as about half the time,
a vector logo is embedded in an annual report, job app, or press release. But, I’ve also done a fair share of reverse engineering from a low res web banner.
Ain’t that the truth! Billion dollar agency doesn’t even have time to provide client branding. I wound up taking screen shot of commercial and tracing the logo in Illustrator,
an imprecise activity and an unrecoverable expense. FUBAR.
