Sounds like you’re not actually trying to extrude the bitmap itself, just the edges of the layer.

You can select the layer and double click on the Rectangle Tool (or Control+Shift+N). This will create a mask of the image bounds and may give you what you need in terms of a mask.

Hi Lloyd,

apparently for Projection 3D to work, one does need  to create masks for every layer as Taron informed me in a question I posted:
" it is impossible to extrude a bitmap image, you need to have an image outline in the form of a mask. "

Is there perhaps another script that can create masks or layer shapes from bitmap PSD layer bounds?
