I've already reached out to Sony and confirmed what I need to do to upgrade from V12. To my original question earlier, I found resolution at least in part with my AE and Element issue. Some users will understand this but essentially, the custom masks I used for about three of the "pieces" to my spaceship were the issue. Custom masks that are extruded will not safe as a model preset. I have a work around already though, just make a cylinder in Blender and all good. I have license for both Vegas Pro and Vegas Post (th= e new upgraded Suite). Those just include extra apps but it=E2=80=99s the s= ame version of Vegas.

Vegas still has some imperfections (which the new team has been working on = for the last couple of years) but it=E2=80=99s timeline puts everyone=E2=80= =99s including FCPx to shame as audio and tracks in Vegas are in world so f= ar beyond what Premiere/Vegas/Avid can do for turnkey edits. Vegas is not a team workflow editing tool but for one-person shops,= even if you are Mac (runs fine in Bootcamp), I can=E2=80=99t imagine not u= sing it. I tried to move away in the year before Magix bought it from Sony = but thankful it=E2=80=99s back again.

Stephen,

=C2=A0

If I may have a follow up, which version of Vegas?= =C2=A0 It looks like there are 3 different versions OF V17.

Vegas Pro Edit, Vegas Pro, Vegas Pro Suite=

=C2=A0

I'm guessing Pro Edit since the second one adds = DVD stuff it looks, etc.

=C2=A0

Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

Not sure about the Element 3D question as I=E2=80=99= ve never saved an imported model as preset but I believe presets are just f= or the type of item e.g. textures, models, lights etc. I don=E2=80=99t think there is an entire rig =E2=80=9Cpreset=E2=80=9D that I recall off th= e top of my head.

=C2=A0

I still do my personal editing in Vegas (current Mag= ix Vegas Post Pro V17). They are working hard to get the app back on track = after Sony=E2=80=99s years of neglect and it=E2=80=99s coming along well (it=E2=80=99s finally more stable than Premiere).

=C2=A0

You can export Premiere projects but like any transl= ation it=E2=80=99s going to have it=E2=80=99s limited, it=E2=80=99s really = useful for only simple timelines without effects, titles etc. It=E2=80=99s = really just a variation of XML exports.

Hello,

=C2=A0

By way of this sample, I have a couple questions.=C2= =A0 I did use Blender by the way for the cone but I built this model in Ele= ment 3D otherwise (assembled I guess).=C2=A0 I'm having some difficulty saving the model as a preset.=C2=A0 I know the procedure but fo= r some reason it doesn't save ALL components.=C2=A0 Any idea on what co= uld be the solution?

=C2=A0

And a second question, probably not much help here b= ut I used to use Sony Vegas to edit and I have a project from 2012 that act= ually has a feature to export to a premiere=C2=A0file (even saw a youtube video) but for some reason, after exporting the entire thing= , it does not produce the actual premiere file like I see in the tutorial.<= u>

Appreciate any insight if anyone has some.=
