+1 to George’s point. Look to take on and explore things far outside the comfort zone. I went from have never heard of “multiplane photoanimation” to create the most complex photoanimations ever made just by following a personal passion (Saturn). Bonus, it turned into a film currently just past 150,00 tickets sold (no I’m not rich, we get 14 cents a ticket).

But it all just started as trying to a couple of minutes of animation other than standard motion graphics + slideshow with AE.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

Personal projects. Invest in yourself and your portfolio by scheduling them as frequently as possible. Use them to explore ideas, techniques, and dreams.

Been creating AE since v3. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that my work is looking repetitive after 23 years. Pretty embarrassed about it after doing a retrospective of the last 5 years. IT ALL LOOKS THE SAME!  ;-)

What to other do to get a fresh breath of creative juice, to break out of the old patterns?

Thanks.
