if you tend to work in one area, its easy to just turn out more of the same, change the colors, fonts. I never liked the animated line and drawings style that eventually went away. now there is more integrated into environment work I like. learning a new style could be refreshing, taking a vacation to an inspiring place, unplugging for a while. that might even be for a few months or more aka the sabbatical.
I’m deeply in the same situation right now, but not with AE / post as I’ve let most of it go. I’m doing 98% production work these days and I’m far far more frustrated with work hours / conditions, not making what I think I should be and wanting to move on to a better levels of production, or do something else entirely. I remember being new and young and watch as folks who’d been in the game for decades go on to do other things and I’d be like why would you ? now I’m like, well why _wouldn’t_ you ? lots of things to do and experience so why stay put in one place !

Been creating AE since v3. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that my work is looking repetitive after 23 years. Pretty embarrassed about it after doing a retrospective of the last 5 years. IT ALL LOOKS THE SAME! ;-)
What to other do to get a fresh breath of creative juice, to break out of the old patterns?
Thanks.
