Thank you lloyd & Phil!
It finally worked with a mix between both of your ideas:

effect("Bevel Alpha")("Light Angle")-180

the math.abs invoked error and the 8-1 just did not follow properly.

Thank again

maybe multiply by -1?

Math.abs(effect("Bevel Alpha")("Light Angle”) * -1

Try this…. Basically subtracting 180 from the bevel angle and making it stay a positive number.

Math.abs(effect("Bevel Alpha")("Light Angle”)-180)

I have not tested it…

Hello all,

can a math savvy person please advise on a simple expression where a drop shadow effect will follow bevel alpha effect angle at the opposite direction?
(trying to fake a bevel w/ shadow)
I tried linking the drop shadow to bevel angle /180
(effect("Bevel Alpha")("Light Angle")/180)

but of course anything less than 180 degrees in the bevel  angle results in 0 for the shadow :-)

Thank you
