I have not found any real meaningful differences in AE caching even PCI vs SATA as other issues seem to drag it down. Has anyone scientifically tested this?

Hey all,
Have any of you done any testing on using a PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive as AE Cache, particularly as it would compare to a PCIe 3.0 NVMe cache drive within an After Effects/Premiere environment?

Theoretically, AE would be able to write cache files even faster to the PCIe 4.0 disk, but I don’t know how that bears out in real world performance. I’m speccing a 3950X build and pondering this.

carey
