| Correct you do not, unless you use a monospaced font. The leading zeros can easily be added with some simple extra code, but that would be extra steps I’m sure you are not wanting to deal with. :)

No need for precomps. Add text layer, add expression to source text property, and choose timeToFrames from preset arrow drop down. Done. You can use any font in AE now and size. With today’s frame sizes that’s often absurd SMALL, and one has to jump through precomp hoops to scale it big enough to be useful; current project 400%. How about 999 points maximum? That might keep us for a few years.
