The negatives often squeak loud but I thought it might be worth posting a different picture.Â
I simply have not encountered the kinds of problems described with any of the more recent releases of After Effects or Premiere.Â
I'm currently working in a relatively large corporate shop - 7 seats of active use of After Effects and Premiere. 5 of those are on 2013 Mac trashcans, 2 are iMac Pros.
Everyone is on 2019 and we're shortly moving up to 2020, although some already have.
Media and projects are on a large Facilis TerraBlock.
Not to say that Premiere never crashes but we have minimal problems with Adobe software. Upgrades to a newer version can be touchy if you don't delete *all* the cache files. But other than that, virtually trouble free.

Well I know it’s quite the thing these days, but I would never try to run a computer graphics business on a laptop. Call them mobile workstations if you like but they’re still laptops.Â
On my 2008 3,1 MacPro with a gtx780 Resolve 12 runs just fine. You see, unlike Adobe, BlackMagic doesn’t force your hand hardware wise. They have standalone installers for every version to suit your system. That’s a level of customer service Adobe has long since forgotten.Â
To them we are just a cash cow they keep milking Adam Mercado Owner & Creative Idiot Influxx Media Production 714.928.9896
Moving Images. For Business Resolve has it's own h/w requirements. I know it doesn't run well, as an experiment, on my late 2013 rMBP.Â
-gl Well quite frankly this is a pattern. How many comments like this do we hear? How many before Adobe decides to give a damn. Not until they lose market share to Resolve (or whatever) will they get the message.Â
I dumped Premier for Resolve and haven’t looked back. It every bit the editor that Pr should be. I’m still dipping my toes into Fusion so for the time being I’m stuck with AE. I do look forward to the day ahead when I kick Adobe to the kerb once and for all Adam Mercado Owner & Creative Idiot Influxx Media Production 714.928.9896
Moving Images. For Business I’m still using Pr 2018. One of my routines to fix problems when deleting prefs or trashing caches and renders don’t work is to uninstall and reinstall the app.
That option is no longer available. I can’t find a standalone installer on the Adobe site either.
I’m also still using Ae 2018 because of Dynamic Link with Pr.
Pr 2018 is the ONLY version of Pr that works reliably on my 2012 MacPro and my 2014 MPB Retina.  2019 was a nightmare, and my trial of 2020 (minimal so far) has been a repeat of the lack of response I’d witnessed in 2019. Â
An Adobe employee on the Pr forum told me I need to buy a newer computer, so I can run the newer versions. Adobe shouldn’t be taking the best builds of their apps off-line, IMO. They shouldn’t be releasing crap and calling it an “upgrade.”  The “new features” in Pr 2020 are ludicrous, IMO.
